Industrial Meets Rustic Room Decor

It seems Luke has kind of outgrown his cowboy room.  Sigh.  We’ve added a few industrial touches and right now it’s a bit hodge podge but this summer I’m planning to redo a few things and transform it into a fun industrial meets rustic space for my outdoor-loving boy.  The key?  Creating a space that works right now at age eight … and one that will still work at age sixteen {with just a few adjustments}.  Here’s some of the inspiration I’ve found.

industrial meets rustic room decor

1.  It’s the little details that really make a room and I love this log pillow.  A fun and simple touch that’s perfect for a little {or not so little} outdoorsman.

2.  I love the look of a a planked accent wall and I especially love this two-tone wall.  I think this is a must-do in Luke’s room.

3.  If you want your kids to hang up their clothes, hooks are the way to go.  An octopus coat hook is not only practical but it looks completely industrial and raw.

4.  Antlers or a deer head {real or otherwise} are an absolute must for this space.  I love this deer head mounted on reclaimed wood.

5.  Luke already has pops of orange in his room and I think we’ll keep that and add some grey, copying this grey, orange, and plaid color scheme.  It’s masculine but upbeat and you can never go wrong with orange {wink}.

6.  And I just may try my hand at building a rustic industrial desk for my boy.  The wood and metal are such a great combination.

Those ideas will get me started and I’ve got a few other DIY ideas that’ll personalize Luke’s room and make it unique.

What would you include in a rustic room?

Love the desk!! I’ve made a number of galvanized pipe projects and they are really pretty simple. Home Depot & Lowe’s will cut to size and thread both ends. Flanges at both ends makes leveling a snap! Love the elbow at top so entire piece can be anchored to wall…hmmm, wondering where this would fit in my house 🙂

I had no idea that you could get them cut and threaded … thanks so much for that tip!

I think the room will come out great! That RH desk is one of my inspiration photos for my son’s desk. The room has been repainted – desk coming up next!
