Hummingbird Nectar

If you’ve been following along with the bird feeders I’ve been reviewing, you’ll know that I’m a huge bird fan.  So I was really excited when this month’s hummingbird feeder arrived.

I love watching hummingbirds, and although I rarely see them around here, I had high hopes that this pretty feeder would lure them into my yard.

I mixed up a nectar recipe I found online and we hung the feeder in our front tree where we can keep an eye on it at all times of the day.

The feeder is so elegant looking.  The red glass catches and reflects the light and the bottom of the feeder has four metal feeding ports designed to look like flowers.

The details on the bottle have a vintage style that’s eye-catching.  Almost every bird in the neighborhood has stopped by to take a look at it.

The only thing I don’t love about the feeder is the hanging mechanism.  In order to hang it from my tree, I had to attach a piece of plain wire and wrap it around the branch.  I would have appreciated a hanger that attached to the piece around the bottle.

We’ve waited with much anticipation but as days and then more than a week passed, I came to the conclusion that we just don’t have a pile of hummingbirds hanging around these parts.  Not one little bird has come to sample the nectar.

I’ll have to do a little more research and see if there’s any way to attract one of those fast-flying guys into the yard.

I was not compensated for this review, however, I was provided with a bird feeder for the purpose of this review.  As always, all opinions and results I share are my own.

Oh, I love bird watching, and it’s such a great activity for my little ones. They could watch birds, squirrels, cats, butterflies for hours at a time (or at least for maybe 5-10 minutes which feels like hours!)

You can plant flowers & brush to help attract them & then when they see your hanging feeder they will be so excited. We get a lot of hummingbirds in our area. I tried to get into do a review for them nice to see you were picked! Love the red one, oh so pretty. My bush outside that they love has bright red flowers it is a Mexican Salvia.
