I like to feed my kids a solid breakfast but school mornings can be so rushed. Getting five kids out the door isn’t always an easy feat. This week I decided to get a bit more creative with a simple but quick breakfast that can even be eaten on the go if needed. This four-ingredient homemade cereal bars recipe is a new favorite in the mornings!
I shopped for some standard breakfast items {yep, I had to go for the Lucky Charms since St. Patrick’s Day is coming up} …
… and made homemade cereal bars {scroll to the end of this post for the recipe}.
My kids loved these cereal bars and I felt good about giving them something different that included a boost of protein. The cereal bars take less than five minutes to mix up and just need a bit of time in the fridge to get firm. And they’d work well with any kind of cereal so feel free to substitute your favorite or experiment with different varieties.
Once firm, I cut the pan into bars, set the bars in cupcake wrappers, and wrapped them in twine for a fun appearance. You could also pre-cut them and place them in baggies to make them easy to grab in the morning.
Paired with a single serving of orange juice or milk {or coffee for the grown-ups!}, the cereal bars make a fun and delicious breakfast on-the-go … and eating breakfast in the car on the way to school doesn’t make it any less nutritious {wink}.
Want to change up your breakfast routine? Here’s the recipe for my homemade cereal bars.

I hate to say it but your “I’ve started truncating my posts to avoid having my content stolen. I hope you’ll pop over to finish reading the post. I’m totally cool with clicking through to read more, but it feels like an interruption and and strikes me as overly negative.
Love these! I made the same thing this morning with my honey nut cheerios. The kids loved them!
Yum! My kids would love those!
What a clever idea! I love cereal but never have the time to sit down and enjoy it. This would be perfect for my on-the-go family.
Awesome idea! I’ll have to try it with my kids.
