Have you heard of the kindness rocks project? People are painting rocks, placing them around their cities and towns, and others are finding these small tokens of encouragement and sharing them on social media {with the hashtag #MAKEkindnessrocks}. So simple, right? But finding a little ray of sunshine on a hard day can sometimes be a game changer. My younger kids and I decided to take part but we gave our rocks a twist and made glow in the dark kindness rocks! We’re hoping the painted pictures will draw people in the day and the glowing light will draw them by night!
To make your own glow in the dark kindness rocks, you’ll need to start with a variety of rocks {we dug ours out of our backyard garden and washed them to get rid of any dirt}, craft paint in a variety of colors, and paint brushes. You can also decorate them with paint pens or sharpies.
Use brushes in varying sizes to paint designs or create encouraging messages on the rocks and allow them to dry completely then spray the rocks with glow in the dark spray paint. Be sure the rocks dry fully …
… then hide them in fun spots around your neighborhood or city. They’ll soak up the sun during the day and glow in the night.
A smiling emoji peeping out of a rock garden will brighten anyone’s day, won’t it? You can follow the hashtag to see who finds your kindness rocks …
… and hope that they add a little smile to a stranger’s day!
Have you found any kindness rocks in your city?

These are great and the glow in the dark is so smart! I’ve only recently heard of kindness rocks and I first heard about it on our local news saying they were being found everywhere. Then, one showed up at my job! Thanks for sharing with us at Funtastic Friday! Pinned 🙂

We are surrounded by rocks where I live so this would be a fun project to do. Maybe we can paint a couple and put them on our walkway in the front for Halloween.
