A Glitter Wood Grain Faux Finish {and a Giveaway}

I received free product in order to share this project but all opinions are my own.

I have something fun to share with you today: Mod Podge Rocks! Peel and Stick Stencils.  And let me tell you, they might just rock your world {sorry, I couldn’t resist the pun}.  Check out the glitter wood grain faux finish I made using only one of the new stencils, some Mod Podge, and glitter!

I started with a vintage wood and metal fruit basket that I bought on my junking trip to Round Top, a wood grain Mod Podge Rocks! Peel and Stick Stencil, Mod Podge, a spouncer, and bronze glitter.

project supplies

I laid the adhesive stencil right onto the fruit basket, rubbed it down …

… and then used the spouncer to apply Mod Podge in all the openings.

When I peeled the stencil off, the Mod Podge was left in a perfect pattern!

I applied glitter generously, shook it off, and let it dry.

I completed the first half of each side, let it dry completely, then finished the second half {you don’t want to lay the stencil down on wet glitter and mess it up so be sure the first section of your project is entirely dry}.

I just love the subtle look of the glitter wood grain faux finish.  It really adds a fun touch to my vintage basket!

A Giveaway

You can find these stencils at Michaels Stores and you can also enter to win one here!

Check out the stencils that Mod Podge is offering and then leave me a comment telling me what stencil you’d like to try.  One of my readers will win one Peel and Stick Stencil!  {Note: you won’t necessarily receive the stencil of your choice.}  Open to U.S. residents only.  The giveaway will close at midnight on February 12, 2014 and a winner will be selected at random.
