I’m about to tackle a small garage organization project and it’s long overdue!  My garage has become a work space and a storage space and it’s lacking any great organization.  While my upcoming project will be incredibly helpful in taming the toy chaos, what I really need is an entire garage organization overhaul.  I’ve been gathering some of the best garage organization ideas and thought I’d share it here, just in case your garage looks like mine!  {Not up for DIYing your garage organization solution?  Check out Easy Garage for a simple fix!}

I think I need to start by painting the outside of my garage door.  {That would hide the grubby handprints, right?}

I have a fabulous, large work bench and the shelf and drawers are perfect for storing tools but I need a better storage system for all of the screws and nails and smaller gadgets.  I love the idea of installing cabinets to both hide and organize everything.

garage cabinets

A great alternative to cabinets is a wall full of shelving and bins.  I love how organized it all looks.

This small space version might work better for my needs and the baskets make it really easy for kids to keep the garage organized as well.

garage shelves

I like having the basics easily accessible and I may build this tape dispenser to sit above my work bench.  I love the idea of having duct tape, electrical tape, and painter’s tape close at hand.

And if I don’t end up with lots of cabinets then I’ll definitely need to build a shelf for all the spray paint I have!

I love the idea of a bike wall but seven bikes take up a lot of wall space so I think I need a different solution.  Bike hooks, maybe?

A pegboard wall is so convenient and would really help with all of the helmets and other craziness.  Plus, I love that you can paint it and add some color to an otherwise boring space.

This simple solution might work well for taming the extension cords that are currently tangled up on a shelf!
