Summer at our house {in the heat of Texas} means we spend lots of time in the pool. Lots of pool time equals lots of wet swimsuits and wet towels … most of which end up in a pile on the laundry room floor. It makes me crazy but we haven’t had a great solution until now.
I’ve seen some cute towel hook ideas lately and decided to make my own super cheap, super simple version of swimsuit hooks.
I used an old board that I found in the garage {probably left over from this project}, cut the ends so they were reasonably straight, and sanded it down a bit. I spray painted the board with Valspar Churchill Hotel White, distressed it with sandpaper, then rubbed Ralph Lauren glaze all over it and wiped it off. It has a great, older, distressed look to it now {which is very hard to see because the laundry room has no natural light}.
I screwed on five black hooks and then added a little black vinyl with my Silhouette.
The last step was the lecture to my children about how and when we should use these hooks. Things like: you should always hang your wet swimsuit but you should never try to hang your body weight {these are things that little redheads like to try}.
I love my new hook board … and it’ll look even better when I paint the laundry room a nice apple green.

This is officially my favorite post. I love it for so many reasons. I’m also going to steal this idea for our wet towels and suits from our sprinkler. I know we will only have 7 hot days this year but still, why use a different towel for all 7 days?
I love how clever you are to make the board and hooks exactly how you like them. Will you show us the laundry room when your done?

Such a clever and cute solution.
Texas heat is no joke y’all.
For real, I am painting my furniture indoors now until winter.

I’m thinking I need one of those! KD always got the lecture “wet things make dry things wet”, and we’re passing on the tradition of the quote.

Okay – hope you don’t mind if I snag this idea. We’ve just been throwing wet things in the kids bathtub. But now a cuter idea! And my laundry room is bright yellow. 🙂

We have the same problem with towels and swimsuit at our house. I love this idea! I just wish I had a Silouette….maybe one day 🙂

Very cute. I loved the distressed wood. I am a huge fan of hooks for children. They seem to be so much easier to handle than towel bars!
I’d love for you to join my giveaway for 2 canvas pillow forms going on now! http://www.alittleknickknack.com Happy 4th!
