It’s the season of outdoor eating, easy entertaining, and afternoon picnics and these simple folded napkin pockets are perfect for all of it!  Instead of juggling with napkins and forks and knives and straws, these little packets keep everything in one place … and look really cute too!  Check out the simple instructions and then pin this idea for your next party or family dinner outside!

folded napkin pockets

Gather up the cutlery or silverware you’ll use, straws if you want them, and large square dinner-size paper napkins.

Set the square napkin in front of you …

… grab the bottom unfolded corner, and fold it up toward the top point, leaving about 3/4 of an inch on the sides.

Turn the napkin over and fold each side in, tucking one side into the other to secure it.

Tuck cutlery into the pocket {fun wooden cutlery is my favorite} along with a paper straw, if needed.  Each packet takes just seconds to make and will go really quickly if you prepare them in an assembly line fashion.

Make a packet for each person so friends and family can easily grab everything they need in one shot.

These folded napkin pockets are the perfect thing for a buffet line or a barbecue and keep guests from having to juggle everything they need.  You may even want to make a bunch and keep them ready for summer entertaining!

Lots of great ideas for summer entertaining, Randi. Where did you get the adorable polka-dot wooden cutlery, straws, napkins, and paper plates? They are so colorful and fun!

The wooden cutlery is from Home Goods. They had packages of them and I couldn’t resist. Yesterday I saw wooden cutlery in the dollar spot at Target as well and I know it’s also on amazon. The straws, plates, and napkins are all from Party City.
