Upcycled Sweater Wrapped Candles

A cold spell hit this weekend in Texas and we huddled up under blankets and brought the winter coats out of hiding.  And it felt like the perfect time to make a little chilly weather decor.  These upcycled sweater wrapped candles are a great way to add quick and easy {and cheap} decor to your home and the texture and coziness they add is perfect for fall and winter.

I already had these candles in my dining room but decided to update them with sweater wraps.  You can update any candles or candleholders you have or find cheap candles and vases at the dollar store.

To make these sweater wrapped candles, you’ll need thrift store sweaters or sweaters from your own closet that you’re just not wearing anymore {and don’t mind cutting up}.  Thick, chunky knits and sweaters with cables and a lot of texture look really great on candles.

Cut the arms off the sweaters at the length you need to cover your candles.  If you’re just covering short votive style candles, you may just need the cuff of the sweater.  The cut end will have a tendency to unravel a bit but since these won’t be handled much, you don’t need to worry about it.  Sweaters don’t tend to unravel a lot unless they’re being picked at.

Pull the cut sleeves over the candles or candleholders, bunch up as desired or pull the sweaters straight, and fold the tops over or leave them straight.

These sweater wrapped candles are such a cute addition to fall decor.  Next time, I plan to make some bright, colorful sweater wraps for an entirely different look.

For another neat way to cover a candle, mason jar, or vase, be sure to take a peek at this knit mason jar cozy {easy enough for a beginning knitter}.

These are just adorable, I love how comfy they look, like maye you could cuddle them except they are made of glass so it would be unwise.
