Emerald :: The Color of the Year

I have to admit, when I heard that emerald was the Pantone Color of the Year I was a bit disappointed.  I may have just been in mourning that Tangerine’s year was over, but I’m just not a huge emerald fan.  However, I’ve seen some really great green ideas lately and I may be crossing over to the emerald side.

Let me show you a few of the things that are changing my mind.

An emerald place setting mixed with white looks really beautiful, doesn’t it?

This isn’t just emerald, but these mismatched green slipcovered chairs look so neat.  It adds such an eclectic look but still manages to look completely elegant.

I’m in love with this emerald light fixture.  I’ve seen some really neat DIY fixtures like this but never one that’s emerald.  It’s so eye-catching.

I love yarn in almost any color but this soft emerald wool is gorgeous.  I can envision this knit into a lacy, flowing scarf.

I realized I do have a bit of my own emerald {mixed with other greens} in this vase knit with wire. I love this mix of wire with glass beads … I think I need to knit another one of these in a bright, vivid color.

This bright green dresser is my favorite emerald find.  Isn’t it great?  I really have a thing for dressers right now.

And I’ll end with this straw purse that I really couldn’t love more.  I had a black purse just like this and I’m kicking myself that I gave it away years ago.  I want it back!  I think it’s time to do a little thrifting.

So tell me … do you love or hate emerald?

It’s growing on me. 🙂 I added some pops of green to my already citrus-y kitchen yesterday. I’m kinda more into apple green or bright moss green…but I think that I have room for emerald too. btw: I love the dresser too! Wonderful! k.

I like Emerald! Really like it but it could just be that I wasn’t a Tangerine fanatic so I welcomed the change. 😉

From all the greens I love Emerald best – happy, fresh, elegant. Like that dresser. It’s lovely!

I don’t even know what Pantone is. Green is OK, but I’d rather something else 🙂

I love it when I see it on other people but it’s not for me. I do love the purse; it’s perfect for you.
