An Eclectic Vignette

Do you change your decor frequently?  I really don’t but I recently decided that the top of the painted dresser in my dining room needed some refreshing.  It’s now sporting an eclectic vignette that likely defies all of the rules of decorating but I love it.

A friend recently gave me a box of beautiful silver serving dishes {you may have noticed some of them in my Christmas mantel} and I placed a large one across the top of the dresser and then stacked some smaller dishes on top.

I placed a small jar filled with vintage, heirloom espresso spoons on top of the trays and then covered them with an industrial-style cloche {a little something I picked up in Round Top}.

I added a little color and warmth with a rustic, distressed yellow birdhouse and slipped a vintage flashcard inside.  Why?  For no reason but I do love that it’ll make people wonder.

I love the mix of old and new, painted wood and cool metal, sentimental and storebought.  It won’t end up in a magazine but it makes me smile.

My ugly green carpet influences my decorating. Your birdhouse reminds me of tweety bird. 🙂
