Tonight I’ll be at The Home Depot, co-hosting the DIH Workshop {click through for all the details} and sharing all the ins and outs of building this DIY rolling storage cart designed by Ana White!
Think you can’t tackle a DIY building project? You can! My cart {and every other project I’ve ever made} is far from perfect. But who needs perfect? I have a mismeasurement, a stripped screw, and areas that need better sanding, but you know what? I tackled this project, built it completely on my own, and I’ll use it all the time.
I customized it just a bit by adding large industrial gate pull handles on each end so I can pull the cart where I want it go …
… and I covered the ends of the screws inside with screw caps.
I also added caster wheels that have locking mechanisms because I plan to use this rolling cart by the pool and I have five kids. No one wants to see if this baby can float!
While I plan to haul my cart out at every party …
… and use it to serve food and beverages …
… when we’re not partying, I’ll keep it in my gameroom and use it to hold games, books, and other kid stuff. The orange color will fit perfectly with the decor in that room and the cart will be a great organizing tool!
Plus, you can customize your cart any way you want! I added drawer pulls to mine but there are so many ways to add a personalized touch. You could tile the shelves or use galvanized metal or flash sheeting to line them {providing a wipeable surface}, you could add beadboard to the shelves or paint them with chalkboard paint or dry erase paint, you could use a woodburner to add a decorative touch, or stencil a fun design on the cart. There’s no end to the ways you can update your cart!
