Dip Dyed Towels

When summer hits at our house, we start going through towels faster than I can keep them washed.  We spend piles of time in the pool and use beach towels all summer long.  This year, rather than buying more expensive beach towels, we’ll be using these dip dyed towels made with inexpensive white towels  {affiliate link} updated with a little color!

dip dyed towels

Making these dip dyed towels is so easy and you can make them in any color you want.  Because the towels are large and you’ll want a fairly straight line across, it’s easiest to dip these towels in a large basin like the bathtub.  Fill the tub with warm water, as high as you can, and add liquid Rit Dye in the color you want.  While I’m sure you can find some formula online for the amount of dye to add, I just pour in a couple of capfuls and slowly add a little more until I think the color looks right.  Stir the water gently so the dye is well mixed throughout.

Hold the towel along the top edge and slowly dip the towel into the water, allowing the dyed water to soak in and lowering it to the height you want.  Hold the towel in the dye to allow the depth of color to take then remove the towel and rinse it completely until the water coming off the towel runs clear.

Hang the towel to dry and you’re all set.  To clean the towels, I wash them and dry them on low.

You can dip dye the towels to match your decor or create a whole rainbow of bright colored towels.  Either way, these dip dyed towels will add a whole lot of color to your summer fun!
