Camp Shirts

I love to have something fun for my little kids to wear at their birthday parties – a special shirt, a cute outfit, an adorable hat.  Just something that feels festive.

I had a fun idea for shirts for Luke and Lila’s camping party, and although Plan A turned into Plan B and C, I’m happy with the outcome.

I originally designed this cute image on my Silhouette, hoping to do some sort of heat transfer.  Because of the firewood-looking font, I would have had to use sketch pens {which I don’t yet own} and cut it differently.  That became the end of Plan A.

Camp shirts
Plan B was to use leftover iron on transfer sheets.  I printed the image and ironed it onto Lila’s white shirt.  Very cute.  The only problem?  Luke’s brown shirt wouldn’t show the image.

Camp shirts
On to Plan C.  I printed the image again, this time on muslin {you can print on thin fabric by taping a section to regular paper or cardstock and running it through your printer}, and scribble sewed it onto Luke’s shirt.  It’s supposed to look like a camp patch.  At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Camp shirts
In the end, I really do like the way both shirts turned out and I like that they’re different.  One step closer to tomorrow’s big day!

I’ve started truncating my posts … please pop over to my blog to read the rest!

I have always wanted to put fabric through my printer – but kind of scared to. I have got to try this. I love plan C! It stands for “creative”.
Found you through tater tots and jello!

Perfect example of if at first you don’t succeed. I like both versions, too. Best wishes for a fun birthday for your littles.
