Boots

From the time Luke could walk until he was about three years old, he was rarely seen without fireman boots on his feet.  They became his trademark and he went through numerous pairs.  I saved his very first pair and decided to shadowbox them.  (I’ve said it before but I’m so inspired by the way Darcy Miller preserves memories by shadowboxing.)

I had two more frames left from my last shadowbox project.  I absolutely love these chunky, distressed wooden frames.  I ripped out the store bought contents (you can see those here) and spray painted the background with Rustoleum Heirloom White spray paint.  Once the paint was dry, I glued in a piece of red scrapbook paper, a black and white photo of Luke wearing the infamous boots (photo by Tara Whittaker Photography), and the boots.  I left the glass off (it wouldn’t fit over the boots) and the 3D effect is really catching.  I’m so happy with the way it turned out.

What a cute idea! I always loved the photos you posted of him in his red boots. Does he still have a pair to wear?

Thanks for sharing with us at A Crafty Soiree! I love shadowboxing, I first saw the concept referred to that way in a Martha Stewart magazine. I made one with my daughter’s first ballet shows and a picture of her in the dance recital costume and she loves it. Please join us next time too!

You are blessing me in ways you can’t imagine. I love this idea and will be using it in the future, there are a certain pair of frog boots that are needing a shadowbox. I am so thankful that you linked up with Sentimental Sunday, hope you will continue to, can’t wait to see what you come up with next.

    Blessings,
    Cha Cha

I can’t stand the cleverness! I would have thought, I can’t do that….it doesn’t fit in the frame. And the black and white picture of him wearing the boots…adorable! I love it. Lisa~
