I covered the back of the frame in a natural linen and hung the dress on a vintage wooden hanger I bought in Canton. The sepia photographs are attached to the background with pearl-topped pins and a couple of strands of pearls are tossed in the corner. I love the final outcome and am so happy to finally cross this project off the list.
A Vintage Dress in a Shadowbox
My three girls all wore a gorgeous vintage cotton dress for their church dedications. The dress was also worn by my mother {and maybe a generation before that}. This little heirloom dress is so beautiful and has so many sweet memories tied up in it that I wanted a way to preserve it forever. I planned years ago {in true Darcy Miller style} to shadowbox the dress along with some photos of Kennedy and Lila wearing it. I had just purchased all the materials to complete my project when I discovered I was pregnant with Tate. Now that our final daughter has worn the dress, I decided to knock the project off my list.
I’ve started truncating my posts … please pop over to my blog to read the rest!
Well done Darcy.
That is incredible!
beautifully executed.
Beautiful!
Did you wear it? You need a photo of your Mom in it too.
This is so beautiful. What a wonderful keepsake.
That is such a good idea. Such a wonderful way to preserve them!
