A Monster Patch

I’ve seen lots of monster patch tutorials lately and couldn’t resist using this adorable technique to repair a pair of Luke’s jeans.  If you’ve got boys, you likely have more knee holes than you can count and this is such a fun way to add a bit of life to a used pair of pants.

monster patch tutorial

This little monster patch is so quick and simple to make.  Use scraps from the fabric stash and less than ten minutes to add that little face over the hole.

I backed the hole with red felt and hand stitched it into place {you could also machine stitch it to prevent it from it from pulling out easily} then added white teeth and white eyes embellished with dark grey embroidery thread.  Add as many or as few details as you like.  You could even add some cute features to make it a bit more girly!

I love how whimsical and cute this monster patch is … and I’m so glad Luke hasn’t yet outgrown having monsters on his jeans!

It is ADORABLE!! I love that Luke hasn’t outgrown monsters on his jeans, and I’m so sad Matthew has. Where was Pinterest five years ago?

I’m a random blog stalker and the monster patch is so adorable that I can’t silently stalk anymore. I’m 35 and purposely buy jeans with holes in them…but after seeing this I just might patch them up and wear them with pride.

Love your blog (and it’s many fabulous ideas) by-the-way.

Would it be weird if I did this to a pair of my pants? Haha 😉

what a GREAT idea. My sons get to many holes in the knees of their pants and I am always wondering what to do with them.

I love your approach to the monster patch! I’m writing a post about ways to rescue damaged clothing. Do you mind if I share one of your photos from this post? Thanks!
