Lost Tooth Idea

A big milestone event happened around our house on Thursday evening:  Lila lost her first tooth!  And I wasn’t home.  Losing the first tooth is huge to me because those little smiles never look the same again.  It’s somewhat melancholy, isn’t it?  While I had a period of sadness, Lila was rejoicing big time.  Losing a tooth is very exciting when you’re five!  And I do think milestones should be celebrated so we used this lost tooth idea, homemade candy tooth lollipops, to celebrate the big event!

In our family, we have a tradition of always celebrating the first lost tooth with a special themed treat.

Elijah had a tooth-shaped cake, Kennedy had tooth-shaped cookies, and we celebrated Lila’s first lost tooth with tooth-shaped candy lollipops.  {Her twin’s first lost tooth will probably follow soon so I’m already dreaming up more tooth-themed ideas!}

How to Make Tooth-Shaped Lollipops

To make these chocolate lollipops, I used a tooth shaped candy mold and lollipop sticks along with white candy melt.

I melted the candy melt according to the package instructions, poured it into the greased molds, placed the lollipop sticks into the melted candy, tapped the molds to get rid of the air bubbles, and let the candy set.  To speed up the process, you can place the molds in the fridge and they’ll harden in just minutes.

Once the candy tooth pops are completely hardened, they’re ready to serve and it’s time to celebrate that lost tooth!

Look at that sweet little space in her mouth.  My little ones are growing up … a little bit against my will {wink}.

For another fun idea for little ones and those lost teeth, be sure to check out this simple tooth fairy box made with a cutting machine {you could also make it by hand}.  It’s a great way to avoid looking for tiny teeth under pillows in the middle of the night {wink}!
