A Knit Garland

Tonight is the last class for the adult knitting session I taught this month and we’re celebrating with a little party.  I thought a cute knit garland would be perfect for the food table.
I knit small triangles then joined them together by weaving the beginning yarn from one triangle into the top of another triangle.  Extra pieces of yarn were added to the ends of the garland so I can tie it in place.
I think it’s really cute and I’m thinking about knitting a big, colorful one that I can reuse at different events.

Want to make one of your own?  Here’s my little pattern.
Knit Garland
Cast on 16 stitches.
Row 1:  Knit 1 row.
Row 2:  SSK, K until 2 stitches remain, K2tog.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 until 4 stitches remain.
Knit 1 row.
SSK, K2tog.
Knit last 2 stitches together.  Break yarn and weave in tail.

I love it. I see a red, white, and blue one in your future. It is almost the 4th of July!

So bummed to miss the last day! I love the little garland, but don’t understand all the instructions. You’ll have to cast me on. Get it? Cast on? Like hook me up? HA! Oh I’m killing me!

I love all garlands and buntings but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a knitted one-how cute! I would love it if you would share this idea (and any others) at my “It’s a Celebration” link party. I think this is such a fun project, everyone will want to learn to knit!

Randi, that is adorable!! You are a multi-talented woman. 🙂 I love the idea of doing one in different colors too. Thanks for joining my Weekend Bloggy Reading party (and for linking back-I appreciate it!). 🙂
