This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group but all opinions are my own.  This pawprint ornament post contains affiliate links.

A few weeks ago I purchased a simple handprint ornament kit with the idea of creating a keepsake holiday ornament for our small dog.  I thought it would be a fun way to memorialize our pup and have a holiday keepsake for years to come.  Let me show you how easy it was to make this homemade keepsake pawprint Christmas ornament and the simple detail I added to this ready-made kit!

With five kids, I have a number of handprint ornaments on our tree but this year I wanted something a bit different: a pawprint ornament to commemorate our first Christmas with this cute pup, Molly!

This handprint ornament kit is super easy to use.  The supplies are all included and it’s quick and easy to make a keepsake ornament.

I rolled out the dough and pressed Molly’s paw into it until I had a solid paw print {and nail marks!}, made a hole for the ribbon to feed through, then left the ornament to dry completely.

While it was drying, I used a stamping kit to stamp a small metal tag with Molly’s name …

… and when the ornament was dry, I put the ribbon through the hole and attached the little tag then tied the ribbon at the end.

Molly’s ornament is hanging on our tree and it’ll be a fun way for us to remember her puppy days even when they’re long over.

Such a cute way to remember the size of your puppy. We found a Yorkie ornament that we put on our tree (a little more obvious than a sweet pawprint, I’m afraid).

Adorable! I like that you did it when our dog was a puppy, like how parents do their baby’s or child’s handprint. I have fur kids and not human kids, so this is a project that I can agree with 🙂
