Metal Nail Art Manicure

I created this fun metal nail art manicure as part of an I Heart Nail Art sponsored post for Collective Bias®.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.  This post contains affiliate links.

My teenage daughter, Kennedy, and I had some fun mother/daughter time earlier this week.  We went a little wild and gave Kennedy a heavy metal nail art manicure.  Picture a french manicure with metal tips instead of white tips … cool, huh?  We used jewelry supplies to make this fun manicure and it definitely added a neat heavy metal style!

I used my Balance Rewards card to buy some Sally Hansen products at Walgreens.  I gleaned a little inspiration from the Street Style display in the store then went home to try my hand {excuse the pun} at a fun manicure.

I bought four different bottles of Sally Hansen polishes in shades of gray.  I only ended up using two of the Insta-Dri polishes for the heavy metal manicure but my girls have been having a lot of fun this week with the other polishes.

In addition to the polish, I needed a few other supplies for this heavy metal manicure.  I wanted to use something different for our nail art and I decided to take my inspiration from an aisle at my local craft store.  I bought metal bead caps, cut them in half {scissors work fine on these thin jewelry findings}, and bent them a bit to fit the shape of Kennedy’s nail.

I painted Kennedy’s nails in alternating shades of light and dark gray then used nail glue …

… and tweezers to adhere the bead caps to the tips of her nails.

I bent the bead caps flat along the bend of Kennedy’s nails and made sure the glue held them firmly in place, especially at the sides {if they aren’t glued properly at the sides, they’ll catch on everything}.

Kennedy and I both love the outcome of this heavy metal manicure … the metal tips add such a fun and unexpected element.

Would you ever do a metal manicure?

That’s SO cool! I never thought about adding bling to nails! Those would look great if you were doing a princess theme since they look sort of like crowns and you could use a pink Sally Hansen nail color!
