Holiday Gift Idea with Printable

One of our favorite holiday traditions is delivering a little homemade treat to our neighbors sometime during the holiday season.  I like something that’s cute but really easy to throw together and not too expensive to make {even homemade snacks can really add up if you’re delivering to a pile of people}.  This year I whipped up an easy snack mix for this holiday gift idea and included a cute printable.  With fun containers or even little cellophane bags, this Christmas gift idea is something everyone will love!

You’ll need five easy-to-find ingredients to make this snack mix recipe: rice chex {if you’re cheap like I am, the store brand is great}, mini marshmallows, jumbo chocolate chips or chunks, mini oreos or other mini cookies, and mint M&M’s.

The combination of mint and chocolate is so delicious and the cereal balances out the sweet flavors.

In a large bowl, mix together 6 cups of rice chex, 1 1/2 cups of mini marshmallows, 1 1/2 cups of mini oreos, 1 cup of jumbo chocolate chips, and 1 cup of mint M&M’s.  Toss gently to combine all the ingredients.

The mix looks so festive with the red and green colors thrown in, doesn’t it?

To package the mix, shop around for some cute containers.

Most stores have fun little seasonal containers or tins this time of year and they’re generally really affordable.  I found these little clear airtight containers in the dollar spot at a big box store.

Divide the mix among the containers …

… then add a tag.  You can make your own gift tags or click on this snack mix gift tags link and print out the ones I’ve created {the updated file is slightly different than the one shown below}.

Print the tags on white cardstock or paper, using a regular color printer, cut the tags out with scissors or a paper cutter, and they’re ready to be attached to the containers.

Stick the labels to the side of the container using a bit of tape, wrap red and white baker’s twine around the label and tin, and you’re all set with a simple treat for your neighbors, coworkers, or friends!

Cute gift! We don’t give gifts to the neighbours. I love giving gifts but John, not so much! 🙂

So wonderful, Randi!!! We haven’t taken gifts to the neighbors in the past (only because things we’ve planned to do have been set on the back burner & then, eventually, forgotten about…bad, Maggie…bad, bad, bad Maggie)…but I think we are going to start…with this! I have some of those containers from Target, too!!! And I love that this is something the kids can do completely on their own…;)
