A Chalkboard Silver Tray

Last night some friends came over for an evening of crafting. The project: silver trays repurposed into chalkboards.

I found an old, cheap silver tray at a thrift store and painted it with chalkboard paint {complete with raggedy edges from poor tape extraction}.

I loved the idea of monogramming it as well but I want to be able to use it vertically or horizontally.

I’ve also considered hanging it with ribbon but can’t find the perfect spot so for now it sits along with my prized Martha book in my butler’s pantry. This tray will be perfect to display a greeting at a shower or party, or to display a special holiday menu.

I’ve started truncating my posts … please pop over to my blog to read the rest!

Hello Did you ever hang your tray? If so, how did you hand it? I painted one but it is really heavy. I would love to hang it on the wall. I was wondering about using multiple Command Strips. Thank you!

I didn’t end up hanging it. I placed it on an easel-type stand instead. Command strips might work or those round plate hangers that stick to the back … have you seen those?
