This DIY house-shaped backpack for kids was reviewed as part of a sponsored post for The Sewing Loft and Simplicity.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have the cutest DIY house-shaped backpack for kids to share with you today!  Heather from The Sewing Loft just had her original patterns published by Simplicity {how cool is that?} and I had the opportunity to review this adorable backpack pattern!

This sweet pattern includes a few different, whimsical backpacks but I decided to make the house backpack for my little one.

It was a hard decision though because I just love the details on all of the different styles.

I sewed this whimsical house backpack for Tate and the final product is just about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.  I want her to wear it on her back day and night.

With all of the little details, this backpack was such a fun sewing project and it’s really easy to customize it with colors and patterns that you like.

I made the backpack entirely from fabric I had in my stash, mixing different colors and patterns and I loved piecing it all together.  The actual pattern was so simple to make and it came together quickly.

I love the striped roof …

… and the whimsical flowers with their stitched stems.  {The perfect way to use up extra buttons in your stash!}

The backpack has a loop for hanging and wide straps for wearing, perfect for Tate’s little back.

Isn’t that just the cutest thing?  I had such fun sewing this pattern and the owl backpack is now on the list for one of my other kiddos.  Pretty sure I need to stitch up the cupcake too!

If you’d like to stitch up one of these adorable backpacks {and you know you do!}, this pattern can be found anywhere you normally buy Simplicity patterns.

For another fun sewing pattern for kids {this pattern is included for free on my site}, be sure to check out this adorable mermaid tail blanket!

    Adorable! I’ve been thinking my daughter might be just about ready for a backpack of her own. I’d enter the giveaway, but I don’t want to be added to the mailing lists automatically. 🙁

    Oh my word! I LOVE this!! Those Simplicity patterns always intimidate me, but this looks like something I can do. I need to dust off my sewing machine anyway. 😉

    My little Granddaughter is into owls. I would love to make her one of the owl backpacks for her going into first grade. They are all so cute. maybe she would like a cupcake next year! Thank you for the chance.
