9 Ways to Repurpose Art

You know I’m a big fan of upcycled and repurposed projects and I have to share these creative ways to repurpose art with you!  Whether you’re altering an old painting you dug out of the attic or bought at the thrift store or recycling the piles of artwork the kids bring home from preschool, you’ll find great ideas for turning that art into something even better!  My favorite part of these repurposed projects is they’re a fun way to save something special without having to keep it in its original form {after all, there are only so many drawings and paintings we can store in a drawer, right?}.  Take Grandma’s old oil painting or that cute stick figure drawing and alter it with one of these clever ideas!

9 ways to repurpose art

Old vintage paintings may no longer suit your style but with a little paint and a bit of work, you can have an upcycled vintage painting that matches your decor … and gives a fun message.

A special piece of artwork drawn by a child makes a really fun embroidered keepsake pillow.

Similarly, artwork turned into fabric and then sewed into a pillow is a fun way to add a colorful and personal element to your decor.  Listing the names and ages is a great touch.

Use old paintings and drawings to create an upcycled artwork typography garland …

Use small pieces of art to make a colorful artwork collage.  This final wall art has such a modern look to it and is a really great way to keep a bit of art from one child or all the kids in a family.

Turn a child’s drawing into an artwork shirt.  What little kiddo wouldn’t love to wear his drawing?

Using artwork to make gift wrap is a clever way to recycle and takes no work at all.  Just stash artwork in with your wrapping paper so you’ve got it handy any time you need to do a little wrapping.

And finally, if you’ve got a little one who loves dolls, turn a child’s drawing into a personalized doll that makes the most amazing keepsake.  Isn’t it just the cutest thing ever?
