How to Create a Rustic Cheese Platter

This rustic cheese platter is being shared as part of a sponsored post for Market Street.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have a new favorite way to serve cheese and crackers and not only is it super easy, it looks so great.  Every time I serve my rustic cheese platter to guests, it receives lots of compliments.  It’s just a different twist on the standard plate of cheese and crackers … and I love simple touches that add a little pizzazz to entertaining.

how to create a rustic cheese platter

To make a rustic cheese platter, you’ll need to start with a trip to Market Street.  Fill your cart with ready-made goodies like jalapeno popper dip {my absolute favorite … we’ve been known to eat it for lunch}, smoked gouda pimiento dip, and cheese balls, and other complimentary food items like artisan breads, crackers, dried or fresh fruit, and nuts.  Market Street is my favorite place to stop when I need something special for an at-home date night, a quick lunch, or a special evening with friends.

Once you’ve gathered all the goodies, you’ll need a wooden cutting board or a piece {or pieces} of wood.  If using a piece of wood, rinse it well and let it dry.  Since it isn’t guaranteed food-safe, place parchment paper under the blocks of cheese.

Start with the blocks of cheese, cheese balls, and dips.  Space everything randomly on the wood.

Add crackers, pita chips, crostini or pieces of artisan bread around the cheese.  I like to fan some crackers, stack others, and pile others.  The variety gives it a more casual appearance that I like.

In the remaining spaces, add pieces of dried fruit {mango slices and pineapple pieces pair well} or fresh grapes or berries …

… and sprinkle nuts among everything.  Pistachios are a favorite and I love Market Street’s honey toasted pecans.

That’s it: a simple rustic cheese platter that will catch the eye of your guests and provide a delightful happy hour.

This is such a great idea! It looks much more festive and pretty than a regular platter. All those choices sound delicious, too!
