The Longest Picture Ever with Crayola #ColorfulCreations

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  The longest picture ever was created as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser. #CollectiveBias

Remember in the movie Ramona and Beezus when Ramona and her dad created “the longest picture ever”?  Well this weekend I sat down with all the kids {even the teens} and we used Crayola products to create our own longest picture ever.  It might not actually be the longest picture ever but it’s certainly the longest picture we’ve ever made and we had so much fun doing it.

I love new art supplies {new pointy crayons are the best!} so we stopped in the art aisle at Walmart and bought some new crayons, washable paint, and sidewalk chalk.

I bought a roll of easel paper for our #ColorfulCreations picture but you could also use the blank side of wrapping paper if you want a cheaper option.

We spread the paper out on our dining room table and kept sliding the picture down as we filled up the space.  It was really fun watching all the kids work together, using their imaginations to add their own special touches to the picture.  Even with lots of different skill levels, the picture started taking shape and it was neat to see the way each section blended into another.

We used crayons first and drew in some of the basics: tall buildings, a playground, a basketball court, a rainbow … all the things the kids thought we’d see on a drive through the city.

When the crayon drawings were complete, we got out the sidewalk chalk.  We love using sidewalk chalk outdoors but it’s also perfect for indoor art projects.  It adds such a creamy texture to art and the kids like to use their fingers to smudge and blend the chalk together.

The kids colored in trees and buildings and blended sunsets with the chalk …

… and then we finished our picture with washable paint.  My kids love to paint and could have painted all day …

… but we finished up the picture when the dog got involved.  Paw painting was never part of the plan {wink}.

When our picture was dry, I hung it in our bright yellow upstairs hallway, where it took up one entire wall and looks perfect!

The mix of chalk and crayon and paint looks so great together and I just love that my kids all worked together to create this masterpiece.  I don’t think I’ll ever be able to throw it away.

SUCH a cute poster! The kids at my son’s school just made a big thank you poster for our local police and firemen for helping out during the ice storm. We should have done something like this!

That is such a bright and cheery yellow hallway! And your children’s masterpiece makes it perfect! What great mixed media ideas for indoors. We can certainly use this idea for our cold and snowy days here in Chicago and I can run up to Walmart and get all the Crayola I need! #client
