A Magic Fun Dough Fairy Wings and Scary Things Playdate

This playdate is part of a sponsored post for RoseArt Magic Fun Dough.  All opinions are my own.

I love throwing themed playdates for my kiddos.  It’s so easy to grab a few friends, add some simple themed elements and create a special and memorable time for the kids.  This week, I hosted a prehistoric tea party {we called it Fairy Wings and Scary Things} for Tate and a few of her playgroup friends.  The playdate was centered around our RoseArt Magic Fun Dough Kits and the kids had the best time!

I covered the table with a cloth and fabric then split the table in half with the boys on one side and girls on the other.  On the girls’ side, I added vinyl crowns to the plates and placed fairy wings next to them …

… and on the boys’ side, I added vinyl dinosaurs to the plates along with dinosaur hats.

On each plate, I spelled out the kids’ names with alphabet cookies to add a little personalized touch.

I assembled our RoseArt Magic Fun Dough Kits and set up a play area on each side of the table.  The Fairy Tea Party was set up for the girls …

… and the Volcano Valley was set up for the boys.

The girls donned their fairy wings …

And then it was time to play … and that’s when the real fun began!

The girls squished, cut, rolled and molded the gluten-free play dough …

… and poured a lot of Magic Fun Dough tea from the teapot.  We all had so much fun pressing dough into the molds on the outside of the teapot and creating whimsical shapes …

… but the girls really loved the image transfers!  Similar to a tattoo, these colored images are transferred easily onto the dough by peeling back the plastic film, placing the transfer face down on the dough, and rolling over the back of the transfer with the water pen.  The kids patiently patted the transfer with the blotter then peeled back the paper to reveal the transferred image.

The images are great but when you no longer want them, you just squish the dough back together and the colors will absorb into the dough, returning it to its original color and texture.  Isn’t that neat?

The kids all needed a bit of help with the first few transfers but quickly caught on and the girls made a whole pile of fairies …

… and placed them on the included display stands.  Tate even added a little snake to the scene {smile}.

The boys liked their dinosaur image transfers too and each made a dough dinosaur or two …

… but there are so many ways to play with these kits and the highlight for the boys was the volcano!  They loved making red hot playdough lava flow out of it and did it over and over and over again.

lava flow funI loved watching the kids have such a good time using their imaginations and being creative.  I was so impressed with the Magic Fun Dough Kits and can’t wait until my twins have some time to sit down and play with them as well.

If you’d like to have some creative fun with your kids, you can find RoseArt Magic Dough Kits {in six unique themes} in the craft and art aisles at Target, Walmart, and on Amazon.  They’d make the perfect, affordable preschool holiday gift for kids ages 3-7!  Or how about picking one up for a Toy Drive holiday gift this holiday season?

And be sure to enter the RoseArt 90-day 90th anniversary sweepstakes on Facebook!  Participating fans are eligible to win weekly gift cards and prize packs as well as a $1000 VISA gift card.  Enter through 12/21/13.
