Winter Orange

I love this scarf I whipped up last night. For my birthday last week, my friend, Jill, dropped off a card and a ball of yarn as a little birthday surprise. Jill and I share a love of knitting and of yarn. We’ve spent hours discussing colors and textures and oogling over skeins of yarn so it made sense that she’d surprise me with a ball of something fantastic. In this case, it’s Moda-Dea’s Lazy Daisy in Orangeade. It’s difficult to tell in the photo but the yarn is wrapped in thread and has fluffy boucle loops at random. A scarf is the perfect one-ball project and I found a neat pattern (through ravelry) called Instant Gratification Scarf that uses a twisted drop stitch, giving the scarf the open, lacy appearance. If you live in my area, you’ll likely see this scarf a lot this winter.

How can you just ‘whip up’ a scarf overnight! It looks amazing!
