Upcycled Flower Ring for Kids #whatsyourid

This upcycled flower ring is part of a sponsored post for International Delight.

I drink at least two cups of coffee every morning and I always drink it with flavored coffee creamer.  International Delight Coldstone Creamery Sweet Cream is one of my favorites.  The name is just right since it adds a slightly sweet creamy flavor to my coffee.  It makes my morning start on the right foot.

Since I drink a lot of coffee creamer, a lot of empty bottles hit our recycling box every month.  I decided to do some crafting with my little girls and upcycle some of those bottles into some fun and fancy flower rings!

#whatsyourid
To make an upcycled ring, peel off the plastic wrapper on the International Delight bottle and wash it out.

Using scissors {if you’re doing this with children, be sure to help with this step}, cut the smooth pieces from the bottle and use them to cut flower shapes in varying sizes.

Place the cut pieces on a metal baking sheet and put it in a 275 degree oven, watching it very carefully.  Within one to two minutes, the plastic pieces should shrink a bit and become very smooth.  Our pieces shrank just a small amount but the plastic turned clear {and then white again, once cooled} and became very smooth and shiny.

Once the pieces have cooled, they’re ready to be transformed into fancy flower rings.  I used hot glue to attach a flower onto a ring form {found at craft stores} …

… and glued another smaller flower on top, then finished it with a little pearl center.

My younger girls love these fancy rings and I love that we were able to make something from my creamer bottle that would have otherwise gone in the garbage.
