The Final (unless-insanity-kicks-in) Paint Job

I finished the final pre-baby paint job. Kennedy’s room was the last of the kids’ rooms and I couldn’t leave it unpainted … especially since it was the only one that had been painted by the previous owners and was in major need of a re-do. The existing paint job wasn’t awful but the color (which doesn’t show clearly in these photos) was a very dirty-looking, baby poop yellow.

It was fine for a while and actually coordinated adequately with Kennedy’s old bedding but after years of yellow rooms for Kennedy, we were ready for a change.

Inspired by the bedding, I painted Kennedy’s room in brown and teal. It’s dark but she has big windows along one wall and rather than seeming cave-like, it just feels cozy. I love the change.

Kennedy’s headboard had a Pottery-Barn-inspired pink monogram on it that I painted over in teal to match the bedding.

Her flower lamp, which has various colors, will stay in the room … the lime green shade on it ties in well with the room.

At some point, I’ll repaint Kennedy’s whimsical dresser so it’s a better fit in the room but for now it’s staying as is.

A few frames and decorative items are going to be tackled with a can of spray paint, Kennedy’s going to make a memo garland, and a valance will be sewn at some point, and then the room will officially be complete. In the meantime, the freshly painted walls will tide us over.

Until the baby’s born, I’m putting down the brushes and officially walking away from the paint cans … unless that existing can of paint in the garage just calls my name in the next two and a half weeks.
I’ve started truncating my posts … please pop over to my blog to read the rest!

    Pure craziness! 🙂

If you get inspired, feel free to come over – I have a living room with high ceiling I really want to paint (or rather, I really want someone else to paint it)

I love her room, Randi, and so glad you were able to finish it! Now prop your feet up and try to relax a bit before baby comes. 🙂

Love it! I had Lulu’s room painted two weeks before her arrival…the vaulted ceiling prevented me from doing it myself. I do think something happens right before a baby arrives… nesting at its best! Fabulous job on Kennedy’s room.

Great colors. On my next visit, maybe I’ll bunk in with KK.
