It’s spring cleaning season and I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for it! The sun’s shining through the windows {revealing way too much winter grime} and I feel motivated to tackle the mess and get the house ready for summer, one room at a time. These 10 tips to spring clean the bathroom fast are a surefire way to get the job done without much fuss … so we can get outside and actually enjoy the spring weather!
1. Grab all the towels and washcloths and throw them in the washing machine.
Tossing the towels in the wash before you do anything else means they’re out of the way so the real cleaning can begin and they’ll be ready for the dryer and back on the towel bar in no time.
2. Use the right tools for the job.
Make a stop at Walmart and gather everything you need for spring cleaning. Make sure you’re using the right brushes and cloths for the job as well as the right cleaning agents.. Microfiber cloths make light work of mirrors and faucets and save time just as the right scrub brush can make light work of the shower or tub.
3. Clean from the top down.
Start high and work your way down as you clean. You don’t want to be frustrated by dust falling off shelves and fixtures onto freshly cleaned counters and floors. Working from top to bottom helps eliminate repeat work.
4. Wipe down all fixtures and the bathroom fan vent with a dry cloth or paper towel.
Using water on the fixtures, unless you’re really deep cleaning, is a mistake. A little water quickly turns that winter dust into mud and makes the job much more difficult and time consuming. Don’t forget to dust the towel bars!
{If you are deep cleaning, unscrew the glass shades and bulbs from light fixtures, wipe down cool bulbs with a wet cloth, and wash the shades directly under the faucet or throw them in the dishwasher.}
5. Clean during sunlight hours.
Cleaning while the sun is shining through the windows really allows you to see the spots on the mirror and the dust on fixtures so you can get them all the first time.
6. Tackle the most dreaded job early.
Whether it’s the toilet or that shower covered in soap scum, get the nastiest, most dreaded job out of the way by tackling it early in the process. The rest of the work will feel easy!
7. Use the mirror cloths or paper towels on the faucets.
Once you wipe down the mirrors with water or a cleaning agent, use the same damp paper towels or microfiber cloths to clean and touch up the faucets.
8. Use Clorox Toilet Wands to clean the toilet.
Clorox Toilet Wands {found at Walmart in the mop and broom aisle} make cleaning the toilet simple: just click, swish, and toss! Click a disposable cleaning head {preloaded with Clorox toilet bowl cleaner} onto the toilet wand handle, clean the toilet, and press a button to dispose of the cleaning head when you’re finished. The size of the head makes it easy to get up into the crevices to power through tough stains, kill 99.9% of germs, and get that toilet really clean. Say goodbye to your gross old toilet brush!
9. Freshen the air.
Tuck away a small bowl of baking soda infused with essential oils somewhere near the toilet to absorb odors and add a fresh scent to the bathroom.
10. Wash the floor last.
Back out of the bathroom, washing the floor as you go. You’re done!
Now it’s time to sit back and sip a glass of iced tea before you tackle the next item on the list. You’ve earned it!
