This weekend I had the pleasure of attending my first gender reveal party. Shortly after my friend, Emily, announced she was pregnant, I sent her a link to a reveal party and suggested she have one. I honestly didn’t think she’d go for it but she did.

Through a last minute turn of events, Emily and her husband, Allan, decided that they, along with their family members, would like to be surprised at the party as well.  I got a phone call from Emily asking if I’d like to be the recipient of the sealed envelope {with gender written inside} and prepare the big reveal for the party.  Are you kidding me??  Yes!

Emily gave me the sealed envelope revealing that the baby is a girl and I carried out her reveal plans.  {I may have also written a little facebook status letting everyone know that I was the only person in the world who knew gender in advance.  You gotta rub these things in a little.}

A pile of pink helium balloons were placed inside a big box, wrapped up, and opened at the party.

The reveal moment was so fun, seeing the looks on the faces of all the family members and hearing the cheers as the balloons floated up to the ceiling.  I loved it!

Since I had the privilege of knowing the gender in advance, I decided to make a tiny gift to take to the party: a onesie with a little girly applique.  The base of the applique was made with fabric and Silhouette interfacing and cut using a scalloped rectangle …

… and the sugar and spice saying was added with flocked heat transfer.  It was the first time I’ve used the flocked type and I love it.  It’s perfect for a baby project.

I’m so happy for Allan and Emily and so thrilled and honored that they let me be a part of their big secret reveal!  Now I can’t wait to see that cute baby girl.
