Phineas and Ferb Birthday Cakes

We’ve had a tradition in our family of celebrating certain adult birthdays with character parties.  The kids pick a theme, usually based on a show they currently love, and we plan a little celebration around it.  We’ve had Thomas the Tank Engine parties, Arthur parties, and recently, we celebrated with Phineas and Ferb.  We also have a tradition of homemade cakes so I made simple Phineas and Ferb birthday cakes for our celebration.  I’m definitely not a cake decorator and these cakes are far from perfect but the kids loved them and they helped carry the theme through our bash.

To make these Phineas and Ferb cakes, I baked a cake in a 9×13 pan.  I just used a cake mix but if you have a favorite cake recipe, that would work great.

I let the cake cool completely then removed it from the pan and used a serrated knife to cut it into the two head shapes.  I just looked at a photo online and freehanded it since the shapes are pretty basic.

Once cut out, I used a flesh colored icing {made by barely tinting white frosting with the tiniest bit of pink} to cover the faces, added white frosting for the eyes and teeth, colored frosting for the hair, and added the eye details with black.

Because the kids love Jello Jigglers and we found a fun mold, we served Phineas and Ferb {and friends} Jello Jigglers alongside the cake.

And we had to buy Perry the Platypus plates, of course.

I’m obviously no cake decorator and these cakes are completely amateur but they’ll do the trick.  Did you notice I didn’t even frost the sides of the cakes?  They were just going to crumble and get really crazy.  So there ya go.  I don’t expect perfection from myself when it comes to cakes for our family parties.

Ok I am with Luke, I LOVE that show. My kids think I am totally weird but the songs and dialogue are the best. “My Nema-nema-sis” is my favorite 🙂
Your cakes are perfect, Happy Birthday Phil!

Thank you sooo much for the inspiration for this simple and amazing Phineas cake! My son’s only request was that I make him a Phineas cake. Your simple instructions made it happen!
