How to Make a Dip Dyed Garland

I was in Michaels the other day and stocked up on a pile of small canvas garlands because they were just so stinkin’ cute!  They were cheap, small and sweet, and perfect for embellishing.  This dip dyed garland is really easy to make {only ten minutes plus drying time} and makes a fun cake topper or a sweet backdrop for a party table.

how to make a dip dyed garland

To make it, you’ll need a canvas garland from Michaels {or you can make your own by hot gluing small canvas triangles onto twine or jute} …

… and Rit Liquid Dye {affiliate link} in any color you want.  I chose fuchsia because I love bright colors in the summer {or anytime, really}.

Mix the dye with water {per manufacturer’s directions}, then carefully dip each canvas triangle halfway into the dye.  Be careful not to let the triangles touch against each other while they’re wet.

Let the garland dry completely …

… then string it behind a dessert table, hang it on a frame, or hang it from two skewers and poke it into a cake.  However you choose to use it, it’ll add a bright and festive {and oh so cute} touch!
