How to Transform a Grocery Store Bouquet

A friend of mine gave me a gorgeous but simple bouquet for my birthday and it made me realize how easy it would be to transform a regular grocery store bouquet into something that looks like it came from a florist.  With the holiday season in full swing and hostess gifts in high demand, I want to show you how, with just a few simple steps, you can turn a regular bouquet into something a bit more personal.

how to transform a grocery store bouquet

You’ll need a grocery store bouquet that includes long reeds and at least one large flower to use as the centerpiece {you’ll have enough flowers for more than one bouquet}, a mason jar, raffia, and chalkboard paint if you want to include a tag.

supplies for bouquet

Paint the lid insert with chalkboard paint and let it dry.  When you’re ready to present your bouquet, write a sweet note on the lid and tuck it among the flowers.

Wrap a few strands of raffia around the top of the mason jar, looping the lid in the raffia, and leaving some strands looser than others.

Remove all the long reeds from the bouquet, loop them in half, and wrap another reed around the base to hold them together.  Once the other flowers are in place the reeds will also stay put but you’ll need them tied together at first or they’ll pop right out of the jar.

Add one or a few large flowers to the jar …

… and then fill in the spaces with other flowers and greenery.

You’ll have a simple but sweet bouquet that’s perfect for a hostess gift or as a decoration at a dinner party.

Love this idea. I’m horrible at arranging store bought flowers. This gives me hope!
