A Sweet Retreat Hotel Birthday Party

Last night was the celebration of Kennedy’s 10th birthday and we celebrated big with a sweet retreat hotel birthday party.  If you’ve got free hotel nights from frequent travel or are just willing to splurge on a decent hotel, this idea is perfect for a tween birthday party … and it’s even a whole lot of fun for the parent who gets to chaperone!

hotel birthday party

Invitations for the sweet retreat were sent out weeks ago.  The information was printed on strips of paper and then coiled up …

… and tucked into bags of personalized M&M’s in the party colors.  The personalized M&M’s were a bit costly but cheaper, still somewhat personalized, alternatives for personalized candy can be found online.

The girls were so excited about the big event!

We met up with three special friends at a hotel at 5 pm …

… and hit the room for a pizza party.  If you want to avoid the cost of hotel food, bring the pizza with you or order it in.  If cost isn’t a factor, hitting up a hotel restaurant is also fun!

After bellies were full of pizza and soda, the girls put on swimsuits and went downstairs for an evening swim. Unfortunately, the pool was jammed full with about twenty water-gun-wielding-football-throwing boys and the girls were a bit intimidated. They swam for a while and then decided to move back to safer territory.

Once in the room, the girls changed into coordinating pajamas that I sewed for the big event. They looked so cute, all matching in pink monkey jammies!

Kennedy opened gifts …

… and then the girls were given their goodie bags filled with supplies for the evening: nail polish, a toothbrush, lotion, a headband, lip gloss, a manicure kit …

… and an eye mask.

The girls spent a long time giving each other pedicures and doing hair, then curled up in the bedroom where they played, ate snacks, and told stories for hours.

Sometime before lights out, Kennedy blew out the candles on her cake and the girls sang happy birthday. Long after the lights were dimmed, giggles could be heard from the bedroom … a sure sign that four girls were having lots of fun.

After a long night of too much sugar and too little sleep, the girls were up with the sun. We went downstairs for a yummy breakfast …

… and a final swim.

The final moments of the party were spent knitting and talking on the bed. A great end to what the girls called “the best birthday party ever”.

The hotel birthday party was a great time and I’m so thankful that Kennedy has such sweet girls to walk through life with.

You are awesome! I’m sure KK and the girls loved it. I was wondering why your status awhile back said you were sewing PJs, afterall Christmas had just happened. I love the idea, how fun and girly! You want to plan my 40th?

You are such a great mom! I wish I had even a fraction of your creativity and talent. You could seriously become a professional party planner (in your spare time-LOL)!
