St. Patrick’s Day is a whole lot of fun but it also comes with a whole lot of pinching if you’re not prepared, especially for the younger crowd.  Those school classrooms can be rough {wink}!  Wearing green is key but this homemade temporary pinch proof tattoo {with green shamrocks} will help take the sting out of St. Patrick’s Day and add a cute element to the day!

I made this pinch proof tattoo on my Cricut Maker but you can use tattoo paper on your home printer as well and cut the edges by hand or with a paper cutter.

How to Make Temporary Tattoos with a Cricut Machine

To make this temporary tattoo, you’ll need printable tattoo paper.  I created a really simple image in Cricut Design Space.

I selected a pre-made image, used the contour tool to remove the elements I didn’t want {once you select the contour tool, simply click on any elements you want to remove}, then added my own text.

I used the align tool to center it then sized it to fit a small hand, about 2.5 inches across.  For toddlers, you may want to make it even smaller.

Before sending it to the Cricut Maker, change all the linetypes to Draw using the drop down menu in the upper tool bar then draw a rectangle shape around the image and make that a cut line.  This will prevent you from having to cut the tattoo out by hand after it’s drawn.

You’ll also want to change the line colors so the machine will prompt you to change them as it creates.  I used black for the font and green for the shamrocks.

Send the image to your Cricut machine, following the prompts for changing the pens.

Be sure to follow the directions on the tattoo paper packaging.  You’ll need to draw the image on the glossy piece of tattoo paper then apply a clear lining over top.  It’s a simple process but be sure you’re drawing the image on the correct piece.

How to Make Temporary Tattoos with a Printer

If you don’t have a Cricut, you can make temporary tattoos on your home computer and printer.  Using your favorite program, create the image you want on your tattoo and print it out.  Follow the package instructions to print and apply the lining.

Once you have the tattoo made, you’re ready to apply it!

You’ll apply the tattoo the same way you would apply any temporary tattoo.  Remove the plastic lining, place it down on the hand or other body part, and wet the paper backing thoroughly.

Carefully peel back the paper …

… and you have a bold message for St. Patrick’s Day!

My little one loved this idea …

… although she’ll also be wearing her no pinching shamrock shirt as a back-up!  Better safe than sorry {smile}.

Hi there! I didn’t understand the process of the temp tatoo AT ALL. In desperation, I’m wondering if you teach classes? I’m also in Dallas; near the Galleria.

Unfortunately, I don’t teach classes. I’m a full time realtor now so I just don’t have time for that. However, you could email me {[email protected]} and I can try to walk you through it with more detail. Just let me know what you’re having the most trouble with.
