Long ago, I blogged about the {Martha Stewart} handprint keepsakes I had started with Luke and Lila.
I started tracing their little hands at one month of age and continued to trace them till now: age five. Initially, I traced their hands every few months and then only once a year as they got older and their hand growth slowed a bit. I had always planned on stopping at age five so this artwork is now complete.
These pieces of art are so precious to me. I walk by them many times a day and I love seeing the twins’ growth documented and preserved. The handmade paper and floating frames have a timeless quality to them and, five years later, I’m still happy with the material choices I made.
These sweet little hands have grown so much and I’m so glad I saved these tracings.
Love it! so special
What an awesome idea!
I wish I had thought of this when my older kids were little. Would it be wrong to only do this with my youngest (and probably last)? Too bad I can’t make my older kids little again.
My baby turns four months in a couple days and I am going to start this then. What type of paper did you use? What about then pen?
This is such a great idea! So beautiful and full of memories too I’m sure!
Awe. So precious. I only wish I’d seen it 13 years ago. 🙂
what a great idea 🙂 wish i would have thought about it when my babies were babies still.
So sweet!

These are such beautiful keepsakes.
What a great idea and keepsake! I wish I had known about this when my kids were small. A little late now…as they are 20 & 23. Thank you for sharing.

With a 7 year old and 3 year old, I am so sad to have missed out on this opportunity. You are SO fortunate- make lots of copies! You will be featured on Sugar and Dots next week for being spot #1, but no lie, this is feature-worthy anyway. 🙂

This melts my heart! So sweet! I wish I had seen this idea when my boys were younger. It looks like such a special keepsake <3

That is soooo sweet! I too, wish I’d seen this years ago.
What a great idea! Like Rebecca, I’m wondering if I can get away with doing this with my baby since I missed out with my son. Hmmm…
Very sweet!
Wow, I’ve never seen this done before and I love it so much! I wish I’d done with w/ my 4 kids. You have also framed them beautifully!
What a WONDERFUL idea. Way do babies have to get bigger?
I am a finalist in a huge room makeover giveaway. I would really appreciate it if you would take a moment and stop by and vote for me. I’m 3#. Thanks. Laura

Such a great, unique idea! I shared it on my Handprint & Footprint Art Facebook page as well as on Twitter 🙂
Priceless! I am booking marking this one. My kids are 6,3 and 3 months. I can at least start with the youngest one…great idea!!
It’s a great idea, and not only that, but they have so much movement (like line animation).
I am doing this tomorrow. It is too stinkin’ cute.
Precious!
We live far from family. I always “sign” my son’s name with his handprint so everyone can see how he’s growing. I’ve also traced his outline on paper and sent it so grandparents could see how tall he is.
What an incredibly beautiful idea. Sheesh…I wish I could turn back time. My girls are 6 and almost 10. My brother and his wife have a 3-year old and a new baby, so I’m sending a link their way.

What a great idea! I don’t even know if I have hand or foot prints. I haven’t opened the baby books in years. I did start tracing their hands at Christmas on the tree skirt last year. I would love to include this on my children’s decor blog. It’s such a creative keepsake! If you’d like to be featured please email me at PlayfulDecor (at) gmail (dot) com. Have a great week!
A sweet and beautiful keepsake. 🙂 Lovely idea, I will keep this in mind for my kids!
A perfect keepsake!
Would love for you to share at Calling All Crafters!

I love this idea! so so fun, of course it’s too late for me to start, I don’t think my 10 year olds hand won’t grow too much more! I’m featuring this tonight on Topsy Turvy Tuesday’s
This post really gives you perspective in life. It reminds me of a talk my Thomas S. Monson, “If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly.” I am so grateful you posted.

Just saw you featured on Sugar & Dots and had to come over and see these! What a wonderful way to caputre the memory of their growth to keep for a lifetime. I just love the idea and yours look so beautiful!
Wow!! thanks for the great idea! I am going to start right now, with my month old grandson. I will present it to mom and dad on his 5th birthday! shhhh it’s a secret!
such a lovely way to remember – lots different than a photo. The fact that you held their chubby little hands and traced around them yourself…what a precious memory!
Great idea! They look 3-D. I’ll bet it is a treat every time you walk by those. 🙂
I recently posted about taking a black and white photo of my kids hands (ages 10 and 12)while they were writing their names. My sons teacher did this in his class and sent it home…that started the idea.
This is the sweetest thing ever – I simply adore this project and the meaning it carry for years to come. Fantastic idea! Thanks so much for linking to The Sunday Showcase Party – I greatly appreciate it. I have featured this Sunday. Have a wonderful week.

I actually have a few hand prints of my kids that I’ve been meaning to do something with. This in genius!
I’d love to have you come by my Make & Share craft hop at HOMEmomMADE if you can.
It’s never too late to do this! Do it now! You could even display the baby hand prints with their parents’ prints as adults. I see endless possibilities! Start today!
