Book Page Bats on a Halloween Mantel

This post is sponsored by Balsam Hill but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m totally in the Halloween spirit this year and I think it’s because I’ve had so much fun decorating for the holiday!  My Halloween mantel decor, with whimsical flying book page bats, is my favorite fall mantel ever.  It was so simple to set up but it adds such a festive touch to the room and everyone that’s been in my house has commented on how cute it is.  And the night version is fabulous: glowing pumpkins and flameless candles that create perfect ambience.

To create my Halloween mantel, I used a combination of gorgeous pumpkins and flameless candles from Balsam Hill.  I loved these whimsical pumpkins the minute I saw them: the shapes, the patterns, and the cute not-so-spooky themes are just perfect for a family-friendly Halloween mantel.

I added a few real pumpkins and tied some black tulle onto the long stems.  How fun are those long stems?  My local grocery store never trims them and I just love it!

I couldn’t resist adding a little crafty touch to the mantel as well.

These book page bats look like they’re flying off into the night and they add such a fun pop of texture and dimension to the decor.

I used my cutting machine to cut them out from a thrifted dictionary.  I folded the wings a bit to make them look like they were flying and taped them to the window backdrop, the mantel, and the pumpkins with removable glue dots.

Flameless candles with flickering wicks were the perfect final touch.

The pumpkins all light up {and they actually have two different settings so they can have a solid light or a flickering candle-like light} and add a fabulous glow to the room after dark.

I’ve been turning off all the lights every night and just letting the glow come from the mantel decor {and the TV, of course … smile}.

The wicks on the flameless candles actually flicker, making them look so real {without the melting wax all over the mantel}.  They even have remote controls, which has made them a big hit with the younger crowd in my house.

I love the way this display looks during the day …

… but it’s extra fantastic at night and has inspired me to add more Halloween decor all over the house.

And I may be adding book page bats to everything too!

Our family has a couple of manikin type decorations that have been in the family for many years, one is Witchipoo and the other is Albert. The house isn’t dressed for Halloween without them!
Love your site and thank you for the giveaway!

My absolute favorite Halloween decoration is a light up white ceramic pumpkin. It reminds me of the light up ceramic Christmas trees. I look forward to putting it out every year. I love the special little touch you added to the pumpkins, they are just adorable. Thank you for the giveaway!

I have an old candelabra that holds 17 candles and I love putting black tapers it in for Halloween. If I don’t plan to light them I cover it with fake spider web and cover the whole table with it. Spooky!
