A Rainbow Birthday Party

Yesterday’s rainbow party was lots of fun.  You really can’t go wrong with bright colors, can you?  They just lend themselves to a festive atmosphere.  It was a fun party to plan as well.  The entire party came straight from a Pinterest board that I made with the birthday girl {why recreate the wheel when there have been so many great rainbow parties already?} … you’ll see my inspiration sources cited throughout this post.

The focal point of the party was a colorful snack buffet on a sideboard next to the table.  I hung a garland {does it look different than the garland I shared earlier this week?  I somehow forgot my garland and the birthday girl’s mom quickly sewed a new one … I told you they were simple to throw together!} and set out a variety of bright-colored snacks.

The rainbow of soda bottles {inspiration} was very popular with the girls.  I love the vintage-style soda bottles {thank you, Cost Plus World Market}.

I printed some rainbow subway art and spray painted a cheap dollar frame for mounting.  And I had to set out rainbow striped paper straws … I don’t think I’ll ever tire of the paper straw trend.

Rainbow fruit kebabs {inspiration} were on the menu along with orange, cheesy popcorn, rainbow goldfish, sprinkled cookies, and an assortment of rainbow candy.

I wanted to place big round rainbow lollipops at each place setting but they were a bit cost prohibitive so I settled for these twisted lollipops.

I found a cute confetti-covered storebought cake and used it as the centerpiece, atop a tutu clad cake plate {inspiration}.

The girls made gumball bracelets …

… and had rainbow manicures …

… then sat down for cake and snacks.  It’s always a good sign when the birthday girl looks this happy, isn’t it?

At the end of the party, the girls filled polka dot goodie bags with a rainbow assortment of candy to take home {inspiration}.

I think the birthday girl had a great time and I enjoyed hanging out with this sweet group of girls, celebrating the big double digit birthday!
