A Picnic Party

One of the sweetest people I know celebrated a birthday this week.  She loves fun details and I knew she’d appreciate a themed gathering of her friends.  I hosted a simple picnic for a small group.

I covered the table with an old quilt centered with a lacy heirloom cloth {I have a box of old heirloom linens handed down to me from a family member … they’re among my treasured possessions and I love to accent with them when entertaining}.

A picnic party
Doilies and a simple basket of apples sat at the center of the table.

A picnic party
Fresh apples held tealight candles {it looked so pretty and what a simple way to add decor to the table!} …

A picnic party

… and each place setting had a tiny picnic basket {I used an assortment of baskets and although that was a decision made from necessity, I loved the way it looked} holding a chicken salad croissant sandwich, pita chips in a cone, a small container of hummus, a bottle of berry lemonade {with a striped paper straw} and a cookie tucked in a folded muffin wrapper.

A picnic party
It was simple and girly and fun but the best part of the night was definitely the company of great friends.

Love this party! I have been mourning the end of picnic season since September when it got too cold to eat outdoors!

p.s. love your apple tea-lights – you could use mini pumpkins in the same way for Halloween decor!
