A Construction Party {Old Style} :: Birthday Archives

One more peek at an old-style homemade, at-home party.  This is one of Elijah’s as well: a construction party.

We mailed simple paper invitations that looked like construction signs.

Decorations included black and yellow balloons, caution tape on all the walls, and a large tractor toy as the table centerpiece.  Each child was given a construction hat to wear with a label that said ‘Elijah’s Construction Company’.

Since the kids were young, only a few activities were needed.  The guests smashed a tractor pinata {swinging from a ladder to add to the construction theme} …

… and made ice cream in a can {that they later ate with cake}.

The cake was a dirt cake served from the back of a dump truck with construction cone candles.

Super simple, super easy, but super fun.

What do you like or dislike most about at-home parties?
