BHG Style Showcase

I received compensation from BHG at Walmart for my participation in the BHG Live Better Network.  However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you follow Dukes and Duchesses on instagram {and I hope you do}, you’ll know that I was in Iowa earlier this month.  I’m so excited to share more details of that trip with you!

Network Badge small

I flew to Des Moines, Iowa {to BHG Headquarters} as part of the BHG Live Better Network, a blogger partnership that I’m really excited about!  Did you know that Walmart sells an entire Better Homes and Gardens product line?  I love the products {and the amazing prices} but my day at BHG Headquarters gave me an even bigger appreciation for all that goes into the design of these products … and what amazing quality is available for everyday low prices!  I seriously came home with a wish list a mile long of completely fabulous and completely affordable pieces that I want to add to my home.

While at headquarters, we had the chance to view many of the latest products and hear from stylists about current trends and how those are woven into the BHG product line.

The displays were beautiful and inspiring.  This may sound silly but seeing rooms decorated floor to ceiling in BHG products from Walmart made me so happy.  I love that having a beautiful home is actually within reach, regardless of your budget.

The product line is full of bright colors, great textures, and fun patterns.  Whether your style is classic, modern, or something in between, there’s something for every style.

We had so much fun, wandering through the showrooms, chatting with stylists and the Walmart team, and getting our hands on the products.

A highlight for me?  Meeting East Coast Editor and Producer Eddie Ross.  I’ve stalked followed him on instagram for so long and it was really fun to see him in real life!  Plus, we got to sit in on a session with him where he shared all kinds of DIY ideas using the BHG products at Walmart.  It’s always neat to see something in a totally different light and think outside the box.

The part of our day that struck a chord with everyone was our quick tour of the prop room.  Oh my.  As bloggers who take piles of pictures every day, the thought of having access to an entire wall of plates, rolling pins …

… and cutting boards made our pulses quicken!  The room itself was nothing neat, just a simple basement style room with concrete floors, but the contents were amazing and plentiful!  It felt like we were picking through the world’s best yard sale.

We had a tour of the {huge} workshop where they built the sets and store the housefronts.  Yep, housefronts.  Now when I read a magazine, I’m looking at everything totally differently.

As the day was wrapping up, we toured the Test Kitchen {which is really many small kitchens within one big area} …

… and the Test Garden {a gorgeous space that made me want to curl up with a good book}.

BHG Gardens

And after our eventful day, we spent the evening at the Iowa State Fair!  How’s that for getting the whole midwest experience?

It was such a fun day and I’m so excited about sharing these products with you over the months ahead: quality products that look great and are affordable for every family.

My Mom used to clip pages out of BHG and put them in files for inspiration. She had hundreds, of course this was before Pinterest existed. Such a cool trip and I had no idea so much prep work went into a magazine showcasing kitchens etc. I love the blue and greens in the bedroom.
