A Metallic Painted Chair

This metallic painted chair is part of a sponsored post for Modern Masters.  All opinions are my own.

I have another updated dumpster dive to share with you today: an old outdated chair turned into a metallic painted chair with modern typography upholstery!

A few months ago, my neighbor grabbed me and dragged me to another neighbor’s trash pile to salvage this chair.  Although the fabric was horribly outdated, the chair was solid and was begging for a second chance.  I added it to the stash in my garage until this week when I dragged it out and gave it a whole new look with some fresh paint and fabric.

I removed the cushions from the chair …

… and painted it with Modern Masters Metallic Paint in Blackened Bronze.  This was my first experience with Modern Masters and I was totally impressed.  The paint is somewhat thick and brushed on smoothly.  I had great coverage even after one only coat but  I used two coats to ensure a solid finish.  I also wiped red paint over certain areas.  I thought it would add a fun touch and bring out some of the color in the fabric.

When the paint was dry, I recovered the cushions with a fun numerical print and screwed them back in place.  It looks a lot different than the chair I pulled out of the trash, doesn’t it?

The metallic paint really pulled out the grain of the wood and the red added an unexpected hint of color.

I love the way this chair looks like it now has an aged metal finish.

Wouldn’t the metallic paint look amazing on a wall?  I’m thinking of using another metallic color to repaint an old trunk I have.

This chair now has a new home in our study and it’s motivated me to finish off the rest of that room.  I may have to add some more metallic hints in there!

This is so great and you mentioned a trunk I have one as a coffee table that is screaming for a redo. The iron paint might be just the ticket

I love the green apple metaliic paint. My daughter is re-doing her room in this color and has a dresser that could really use some TLC. Metallic paint would be the perfect way to dress up this dresser for her room. Thank you for the wonderful giveaway!

Chair looks awesome, that would go perfect in our study.

We use metalic paint all the time, we buy old furniture from the local flea market and fix them up as a hobby.

Great work, thanks for the share!!

It’s from Hobby Lobby and I saw it there fairly recently so you may be able to find it still. Good luck!
