Polka Dot Party Ideas

Years ago, when I first started blogging, Kennedy had a fun and colorful polka dot themed birthday party.  I didn’t share a lot of details at the time and I thought it might be fun to take a peek back at my favorite polka dot party ideas we used that day.

I used our very-wrinkled {smile} Twister game mat as a table runner over a regular tablecloth and cut the napkins into circles with a polka dot sticker {garage sale price tags} on each.  I also stuck those stickers to the tablecloth, attached them to the sides of disposable cups, and sprinkled the table with paper punch confetti.

We used storebought polka dot paper plates at each place setting.

To make place cards, I stuck colorful, round lollipops into gumdrops and attached a name tag to each lollipop stick.  I love this idea and might recycle it for the kids’ table this Thanksgiving.

One of my favorite details of this polka dot party was the candy button garland hanging from the chandelier.  I cut strips from sheets of candy buttons, stapled them into loops, and created a paper chain garland.  It looked so cute!

The goodie bags were made from small silver bubble wrap mailing envelopes {found at an office supply store}.  I added ribbon handles to them and filled them with round and polka dot items, including pencils with homemade round chocolate toppers {made with a candy mold and pencil pop sucker sticks}.

We even carried the polka dot theme into the food and served Dippin’ Dots with the cake.

I love polka dots and this party had so many fun details that made it colorful and creative.

Hi There – I know this post is a really old one but I thought I would reach out anyway. I am helping a friend plan her wedding and she would like to serve dippin’ dots. However, the venue has never served them before and we are wondering how fragile they are. Did you serve them yourself, or have a local company do it? Basically, we are wondering if they were out in buckets (on ice) for an hour or so, would it all melt? I would appreciate any insight you could share. Thank you!!

It really isn’t fragile at all. I can’t promise, but I don’t think it would melt if it were on ice in buckets. It’s actually quite hardy. I LOVE the idea of serving it at a wedding. Share a photo on the Dukes and Duchesses facebook page!
