Are your kids almost out of school for summer?  This is our final week and then all five of my kids will be on summer break.  And I might be more excited than they are!  I’m literally counting down the days and, to celebrate the start of summer, on Friday they’ll receive this summer fun basket after school!  If you want to surprise your kids with a basket as well, be sure to scroll down and grab the free happy summer printable tag!

A summer fun basket is quite cheap to put together.  I made a quick stop at the local dollar store and bought a pile of colorful summer-themed items …

… then placed them all in a big tub {also found at the dollar store} that will double as a drink bucket this summer.

Need some ideas for what to put in the bucket?  Add some pool toys if you plan to do a lot of swimming, floaties, a bug kit, some ready-to-freeze ice pops, squirt guns and water squirters, water balloons, sidewalk chalk, and anything else that will encourage the kids to play, run around outside, and enjoy every minute of summer!

Print the happy summer printable, trim it to the size you want, and add it to the summer fun basket.  I cut slits in my label and ran a ribbon through it …

… then hung the ribbon over the front edge of the bucket with the tag lying right in the center.

My kids will be super happy to start summer break this Friday but even happier when they come home and find this basket full of fun.  We’ll likely hit the pool right away and get summer off to a brilliant start!
