If you’ve been around Dukes and Duchesses at all, you know that I have a bit of a coffee obsession.  And you may have seen the amazing coffee punch recipe that’s circulated all over social media {it’s one of my most popular posts and a must-have recipe at all parties and showers}.  I decided it would be fun to create a grown-up version of this popular recipe and here it is: the best spiked coffee punch recipe!  It’s cold and creamy and the perfect mix for any adult party you’re throwing!

spiked coffee punch recipe

To make this spiked coffee punch recipe, you’ll need milk, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, sugar, powdered instant coffee, and a coffee-flavored liqueur {I used Kahlua to make this batch but you could definitely experiment with your favorites}.

You can find full measurements and instructions for this recipe further down in this post.

ingredients for coffee punch

In a small saucepan, mix the instant coffee powder, sugar, and water, and heat over medium heat until the sugar has completely melted and all the ingredients are dissolved and well mixed.  Don’t allow it to boil.

Refrigerate the mixture in an airtight container until you’re ready to use it.  You’ll want it to be cool before you mix it with the other punch ingredients.  The liquid will get kind of syrupy and become thicker than it was when first cooked.

If you want to prep ahead for a party, you can make the coffee syrup mixture ahead of time and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Before the party guests arrive, pour the chilled syrup into a large punch bowl. {I often use a large apothecary jar to hold the punch instead of a standard punch bowl.}

Add the entire gallon of milk and stir.

Add all the ice cream {by scoops} into the punch then add the liqueur.  Stir gently to mix.  The ice cream doesn’t have to melt all the way prior to the party … it serves as the ice, keeping the punch nice and cold, and will slowly melt throughout the party.  Just give it a quick stir before serving.

If you’re not sure if all your guests will want the spiked version, you can also skip adding the liqueur to the punch bowl and just set a bottle next to the punch so guests can add a quick shot to their individual glasses of punch.

A quick tip: if I’m hosting a large gathering, I like to make two or three batches of the syrup and store them separately in mason jars so I can quickly make another batch of punch without any extra measuring.
