I may be a bit old school but I just love May Day! I think the tradition of putting baskets of flowers on neighbors’ door knobs is so sweet and thoughtful. We’ve delivered flowers many years and this year I’m hoping to whip up these scalloped May Day mason jars for everyone on our street.
These May Day mason jars are really simple to make and just take a bit of time to dry before they’re ready to hang on doors. You’ll need mason jars, mod podge, a foam brush, scalloped frog tape, fine glitter, and wire.
You can grab all the supplies you’ll need by clicking the links below {affiliate links}.
Wrap a piece of scalloped tape around the mason jar, pressing the edges down fully. You can measure the tape height to make sure it’s straight all the way around or just eyeball it.
Using the foam brush, apply mod podge below the tape, making sure you cover every spot including the curve on the bottom {but don’t bother applying mod podge to the bottom of the jar}.
Sprinkle fine glitter all over the mod podge, making sure there aren’t any uncovered spots …
… tap off the excess glitter, and gently remove the tape before the mod podge dries.
Twist thin craft wire around the top of the mason jar then twist another piece through and loop it over to create a handle. Twist the ends to hold them in place.
Fill the mason jar with water, add your favorite flowers {how cute are daffodils?} …
… and hang the mason jar on the door knob of a neighbor. Friends will be so happy to find this sunny surprise when they open their door!

Years ago at Haven Conference, Frogtape was a sponsor, and gave me chevron tape! I have YET to use it, and now I know how! Thanks for the idea and for sharing at #HomeMatters!
