I love giving gifts in jars. It’s such an easy way to package a cute themed gift and it’s so easy to embellish the jars in a simple way that adds a lot of wow factor! These mason jar gift ideas were shared on The Container Store’s blog last week and I wanted to be sure you saw them too! After all, the holiday season is coming up fast and it’s time to start thinking about those gift lists … and I’ve got a little something for everyone.

Each of these gift ideas starts with a jar. I love the variety of jars available at The Container Store. You can find every size, shape, and style and match the style of the jar to the gift you plan to give.

Cookie Mix in a Jar
Packaging a cookie or brownie mix in a jar is a classic idea that never gets old.

And a wooden spoon label is the perfect way to embellish the jar! Grab a wooden spoon from the dollar store, add the title to the front …

… and the instructions on the back. A fine point sharpie works perfectly but if you’re feeling extra creative you could also use a wood burner for a rustic look!

Gather the dry ingredients for your favorite cookie recipe …

… and layer them in a jar.

For a fun touch during the holiday season, use some ribbon and hot glue to create a Santa belt on the jar. A couple of black buttons finish the look and you have a whimsical hostess or neighbor gift that’s easy and affordable!

Succulent in a Jar
Succulents are all the rage and if you have a friend with a green thumb, this is just the gift!

Gather a small succulent, some extra soil, pebbles, and a metal spoon {a dollar store or thrift store spoon works well}.

Using a metal stamping set, stamp a word or short message on the spoon …

… and add a rustic tag if desired. This cute tag can be found at The Container Store but you could easily make your own as well.

Just a few steps to a really sweet, personalized gift.

This is one of my favorite ideas. Most little girls love glitter and glam and you can have a lot of fun customizing this mason jar gift.
Glitter and Glam Mason Jar Gift

Start with a large jar, shredded filler, and a cute embellishment like a pink glittery stick-on bow.

Gather up all kinds of fun pink and glittery items: whimsical bubbles, fun gum flavors, nailpolish, cute pencil sharpeners, glittery washi tape, bath bombs, tiny notepads, or any other cute items that little girls love.

Dip or paint the jar with pink or glittery craft paint and let it dry completely …

… then fill it with the favorites tucked in among the paper shred. Add a bow …

… or, for the holiday season, wrap the jar in twine and tuck in a tag.

Wouldn’t you have loved to receive this when you were young? Heck, I’d like to receive it now! You never outgrow glitter {wink}.

I have another cute idea for that friend who loves gardening or cooking with fresh herbs.
Herbs in a Jar Mason Jar Gift

I hope the chalkboard trend never goes away. I’m still a huge fan and this chalkboard ribbon is my new favorite! It’s such a great way to label a gift.

For this gift idea, gather up some seed packets, gardening gloves, gardening makers, and any other little trinkets that a gardener would love.

Package them in a jar …

… and add some chalkboard ribbon.

For the holiday season, hot glue little embellishments onto the garden markers …

… and the ribbon, and then tuck the garden markers into the ribbon on the back of the jar {they’ll likely be too big to fit into the jar}.

Don’t forget the men in your life! This useful gift makes a great stocking stuffer.
Shaving Kit in a Jar

A mustache is a must for a shaving kit so use your cutting machine to create one with vinyl and adhere it to the side of the jar. Paint the lid black for a cohesive look.

Then add some useful items: razors, shaving lotion or cream, shaving soap, a shaving brush, and even some cologne.

For the holiday season, add some dark ribbon and a masculine tag.

Easy as can be, right? And the gift ideas are endless … you’re only limited by your imagination.

Choose a friend’s hobby and create a gift that fits! And then show us what you’ve done … share a photo on the Dukes and Duchesses facebook page!
